Cobb Health Care Center: A nonprofit assisted living center located in Comer, Georgia. The outdoor therapeutic garden idea, developed in 2003, was designed to be enjoyed by the residents. The Cobb Health Care Center staff held numerous fund raisers to purchase and install all of the hardscape at the garden, including sidewalks. The Madison County Master Gardeners Association, along with the Cobb Health Care Center staff, built the gazebo. Madison County Master Gardener's Association members raised funds through plant sales and obtained a $500 grant from the Georgia Master Gardener Assocation which allowed the group to purchase trees, shrubs, and perennials for the garden. Weyerhauser Trus-Joist plant donated and delivered multiple truckloads of mulch. This was truly a joing project with the Madison County Master Gardeners Association, Cobb Health Care Center staff, the Madison County 4-H Club, Madison County Boy Scouts, and various businesses in the county who donated materials, as well as families of the Cobb Health Care Center patients. The Master Gardener's Association along with the Madison County 4-H members continues to update the garden, replace and add new plants. TOP
