To prevent dirt from getting underneath your nails, before going out to garden, press you fingersnails into a bar of soap. This will leave soap underneath your nails. Yes, you should still wear your gloves. When you come back in, it is much easier to clean underneath your nails. Got some old used concrete hanging around the yard? See the creative way one of our members used hers. Got extra mini blinds laying around? Cut them so that there is a "v" on the end. Then take a permanent marker, or a labeler, write the name of your plant on the mini-blind. Insert the "v" end into the ground. The beauty of this is, you can make the sign as long as you need. A Great way to label your plants!! Inexpensive Plant Labels Take plastic knives and write the name of your plants on the "blade" of the knife. Insert the handle into the soil. Great hose minders Go to yardsales and purchase used firesets. Cut off the tool portion -- shovel, brush, etc. Insert the other cut end into the ground. You have a long portion underground, making it a very stable minder which won't fall over.
